Making Your Dreams Come True

Dreams do come true, for some of us. And you want to be among those who realize their dreams.

Start with this GenuLines look at how your dreams can become reality.

Making Your Dreams Come True

Do you dream of being somebody special, somebody big? Do you fantasize about hitting the game-winning home run?

the word dream

Do you dream of being the homecoming queen? And how many times have you dreamed of being rich, or successful, or happy with your relationships?

Often, we dream big dreams and have great aspirations. Unfortunately, our dreams are only that – dreams.

And our aspirations collect dust.

We want to move toward self actualization. But we get caught up in the humdrum of living from day-to-day.

Mere existence becomes our reality. But life could be so much better, if only we learned to aim higher.

The words get in the way

The most common problem with setting goals are the words ‘can’t’ and ‘impossible’.

Most people get hung up thinking ‘I can’t do this,’ or ‘It’s not possible.’ Now, if everyone thought that way, there would be no inventions.

No innovations. And no breakthroughs in human accomplishment.

Remember that scientists drew a blank when they studied the bumblebee. They said that in theory it was impossible for the bumblebee to fly.

But, the bumblebee doesn’t know that. So fly it does.

But some people dream very possible dreams and then don’t act on them. The result?

Broken dreams, and tattered aspirations.

Try this exercise

Take a piece of paper and write down some goals in your life. Under one header, list things you ‘know you can do’.

Under another header, write the things you ‘might be able to do.’ And under one more, list the things that are ‘impossible to do.’

Now look at all the headers and strive every day to finish things you ‘know you can do’. Check them when you’re able to do them.

Then move to the goals you ‘might be able to do.’ Finally, tackle the goals you labeled ‘impossible to do.’

As you work through this process you’ll find that the ‘impossible’ begins to seem possible.

The intention here is not to limit your imagination. It’s to aim high, and start working towards that goal little by little.

But keep it realistic so you don’t end up disappointed and disillusioned.

Thomas Edison said that genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration. Nothing could be truer.

To reach your dreams be ready to call on hard work and discipline. Any gym rat will tell you that there can be no gains unless you’re out of your comfort zone.

So dream on! Don’t get caught up in your perceived limitations.

As you progress, you’ll find that the ‘impossible’ is feeling a bit more possible.

Why Is Self Development Important?

You’re thinking about starting a self development program. But you’re not sure. It can be an important move for you and GenuLines is here to show you some “whys.”

Why Is Self Development Important?

When you were a kid your doubts, fears and insecurities could cause you to think, “I wish I was somebody else.”

man doing self developmentEven today it’s common to think that some or most people are better than us, especially when we’re feeling low. The truth is often very different.

You look at a successful young business entrepreneur and say “What else could he ask for?” Yet he may wonder why his friends won’t talk to him any more.

Envy

Isn’t it funny? We look at other people and envy them for what seems to us to be their perfect lives.

We wish we could trade places with them, while they look at us and think the same thing. We’re insecure about other people who themselves might be insecure about us.

The result could be low self-esteem. Or low self-confidence and loss of faith in self development

Not So Magnificent Obsession

So it can happen that you spend all your time obsessing about what seem to be your negative points. Yet it might be that they don’t matter to anybody else.

At the same time, you could have an irritating habit that you’re not even aware of.

Stop, Look and..

One key to self improvement is to LISTEN and TALK to a trusted friend. Find someone you’re comfortable with.

Someone who’ll let you open up on even the most sensitive topics you want to discuss. Ask questions in a way that makes it possible for the other person to tell you what is really happening.

This signals to the other person that you’re interested in self development. Usually, the person will hesitate to tell the truth right away.

Be Gracious

Of course it’s important to accept any comments or criticisms that you hear. You may feel hurt but try not to show it or your listener won’t want to tell you more.

Then you may want to check out the results with other people. It doesn’t hurt to get a second opinion.

Let’s say you’re the one offering self-improvement suggestions.

Start with letting them see that you yourself are following the path of self development. Self improvement makes us better people, more open to the world around us.

Re-imagine YOU

It’s vital to stop thinking of yourself as a second-rate being. Forget the repetitive thought of “If only I was richer .. if only I was thinner” and so on.

Accepting your genuine self is the first step to self improvement.

We all have our insecurities. We can wish we had better things, better features, etc.

But life need not be perfect for you to be happy about yourself. It’s more about acceptance and contentment.

When you begin to improve yourself you’ll begin to feel contentment and happiness.

Article:     For Good Vibrations Focus on the Good

Picture of thumbs upI like to say that everything is energy, and energy is everything. Energy differs according to the speed at which it vibrates. Light energy has a high frequency vibration, while something like a dining room table has a lower frequency. Human beings have different frequencies of vibration, too. The ways we think and feel go a long way toward determining the frequency at which we vibrate. We then send that vibration out to the world, much like a radio station sends out its signal. The result, as Universal Law tells us, is an attraction to that which vibrates at a similar frequency. And what we bring to us determines our reality. So, it makes sense to raise our vibration in order to make a positive shift in our lives.
You probably know or have been around someone who is vibrating at a high frequency. They strike you as spirited and dynamic. This type of person can be an inspiration to us for working on raising our own vibration. Then there’s the other side of the coin- someone who is very negative or cynical. This is a person who vibrates at a lower frequency. Do a simple test to find out where you stand on the vibration scale. Think about where you fall on a scale between the most negative person you know and the most vital. You’re not doing this to be critical of the person. Rather you can find your place on the vibrational scale. This is a good way to measure your progress and to remind you that you may have some vibration raising left to do.
There is no shortage of ways to raise your vibration. You can say affirmations or start a meditation practice. And it’s always wise to monitor your thoughts. Choose where you send your attention. You can see how effective this is by visualizing- just a few minutes a day. You might want to spend those minutes focused on the good in your life. As you do this you’ll be training yourself to be more mindful and in the moment. And over time you’ll start to see a real shift in your vibration.
